Patti McAuliffe

 Director

I learned of the significant role of play in a preschooler’s life over thirty years ago, when I began to study early childhood education. Research continues to show us how important play is to the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children. My goal as a teacher is to create a safe, fun, engaging environment, where children can practice all of the skills we want them to know, in a secure, loving school. It truly is a privilege and a responsibility to have an influence on these young lives. I want to give them the best start possible on their lifelong journey of learning.

Joan Allen

Assistant Director/Lead Teacher

I am Joan Allen.  I am originally from Jamaica in the West Indies.  My family and I immigrated to the USA in July 2006.  My husband Willard, adult son Jason and I are currently living in Hudson.  I enjoy listening to quiet, and reflective music, shopping, and being a source of encouragement to others.

I started working with children as a volunteer teacher at church, something I am still devoted to doing.  My formal teaching career started in 2007, and I have remained in this field since and have advanced myself through various training.  I am a committed, and dedicated teacher who truly enjoys working with children, especially in small groups, and one-on-one.  I am delighted to have the opportunity to be a member of the team of significant others in the lives of children here a TLC Christian Preschool, and to assist in their holistic growth and development.

Tanya Paixao

Lead Teacher

My name is Tanya Paixao. I am a resident of Worcester and have been working as an educator for fifteen years.  As an educator of young children, I have always reveled in the joy of discovery.  That is where the real learning takes place.  Whether it is in dramatic play, circle, music, the playground, the sensory table or art, the students are in charge of what they learn.  We do not teach children to read and write.  We expose them to books and letters and literacy in a variety of age appropriate methods.  We encourage them to share and talk with us and their peers. We praise them when they take chances and try something new or simply persevere.  These things are things that cannot be measured on a test.  I teach young children because I love children and I love to witness this joy and know that I am working, doing Christ’s work here with these little miracles.

Donna Bill

Lead Teacher

I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Worcester State College and have been working in the field as a preschool teacher for more than twenty-five years. I reside here in Worcester with my husband John, where we raised our daughter Laura, who is now a happy, productive adult!

The rewards of being a preschool teacher are endless. Whether I'm watching a child make a discovery, form a friendship or gain a new skill in the classroom, the genuine excitement and enthusiasm displayed is always gratifying. I have always considered the preschool classroom to be an extension of the child's home and family. I feel honored to be part of the teaching team at TLC Christian Preschool.

One of my favorite aspects about working with children is that every day is different!  I never tire of watching a child make a discovery for the first time or solve a problem for themselves.  I hope to give children the opportunities and skills to be excited about learning and going to school for the rest of their lives.
